2015 Race Results
A unique, small boat event for sailors of all ages. Races start in the Neuse River, near the NC Wildlife Ramp. They then run beneath the bridge, up both Greens and Smith Creeks with the finish back in the Neuse River.

Open to any type of boat under 20' LOA. Two-(2) races are schedule, with the first race having a start in
'mass'. Lots of excitement, chaos and laughs.

Race 2 will be a staggered, pursuit type start with starting times being based on first race finishes. Top finishers for Race 1 will start last on Race 2.

A few 'unique' prizes

Nancy and Paul Welles, owners of Triton Yachts, who have organized the Greens Creek Challenge for years, pose with the chicken that is part of the race tradition. Paul places it – floating and elevated on a stick – just off the race course. The entrant who retrieves it, receives a prize for his troubles. In 2014, the winner of this coveted prize was Don Munn.

Awards

As has been the tradition for as long as anyone can remember, awards will be presented after the race on the lawn of Oriental's First Lady of Sailing, Grace Evans.

Need a boat to race for the GCC?
Jim Edward, from Bow to Stern, says they'll be renting FJs, Sunfish or Opti's, at special rates, to anyone participating in this year's Greens Creek Challenge.
